Before starting a pergola project, it’s wise to spend some time conducting research. Since pergola products come in many different styles, functions, and materials, selecting the right one is key.

I’ve looked at many different styles, sizes, and ideas. Freestanding pergolas versus those attached to houses, traditional-style pergolas versus modern ones, aluminum pergolas versus mahogany ones, or pressure-treated wood pergolas.
After conceptualizing the design plan, measure the patio space to determine the dimensions of the pergola, the placement of privacy screens, and the required height. Then, sketch out the desired effect in advance. Draw floor plans and elevations to scale.

After confirming all the above factors, you can contact manufacturers to place orders for materials. Ensure dimensions are listed accurately. Note that when constructing a pergola on a concrete floor, the concrete must be at least 15cm thick—this is the standard requirement. If the floor is not concrete, pergola construction should only begin after the floor has been completed.
